Kelly's Birthday | Family

Hello Friends!

It's been a while since I last posted, but I suppose it can be seen as a blessing to be so busy living that you don't have time to blog what's happening in your life!

This post is so very overdue, but I thought to start off with it as it's a really special post.

My sister, Kelly and I are both born in Spring and what a wonderful time of year it is! Although Kelly's birthday falls in the cooler part of Spring, it was still a lovely warm evening when we celebrated just before she went away on a weekend holiday with some friends.

With Kelly and I never really having been given the opportunity to be close as children and to grow up together, it's still quite a novelty to get to know each other. That said, as I learn more about her, I realize that my sister is such a stellar, unique individual. She has such wonderful qualities - compassion, humility and selflessness being only a few of the many.

Anyway, here are some random pictures I took in between all the yummy food and the awesome conversation.

Kels and Aunty Char

Aren't these ladies just so much fun? What sports they were for photos!

Kelly and her Dad, Uncle Len.

A toast to Kelly from her Mom.

Miss Madam blowing her candles out - don't these cupcakes look amazingly yum!?

Sisters forever! :)

A great night was had and we hope that the life year ahead is an amazing one for you Kels!

Hello!

This morning my sister called me and although for some this may be an every day occurrence in some of your lives, it's a recent addition to mine.

Needless to say a blog is a public and open platform so I'm not going to share intimate and private details of our history, but I will say that for the first time ever we are making a full-hearted attempt at having a relationship and it's become something which I value already.

A few weeks ago I woke up to a message from Kelly on whatsapp and she had sent me some images. The one I'm sharing today is when Kelly was still an infant and i was probably about 3 years old. I can't remember this day, but I know that in my heart it must have been special - I just know.

The reason why I'm sharing this post today is because this past week I've realized that although we CAN'T choose our family, they are not something which we can throw away. I've had so much up and down and back and forth when it comes to family and at one stage I thought myself better off without any relatives in my life, but now I know that although I don't have much, I have enough.

Hello Again!

I'm catching up on long overdue posts as you can see!
Here are some of the things that happened in our lives this past week!

This week we celebrated the last of Pesach [Jewish Passover] and that entails not eating any grains. My body feels so much 'cleaner' because I used the opportunity as a detox. These are kneidlach which are a type of dumpling served in chicken soup.

Obviously I broke Pesach with pasta!

I got to spend some time at one of my most FAVE hangouts - Eat Your Heart Out in the maboneng precint in town. Stacey is a darling!

I pulled  out the winter nail colours and HAD to add a little shimmer!

Stacey treated me to her famous shakshouka which is a spicier version of mine.

And...today I got to spend some special time with my dear sister Dani! Isn't she gorge? x
