Monthly Collage - November | Our Life

Hello There!

It's time for our monthly collage. It feels as if November just dashed past without any pause. So many things have happened and I am so happy that December down time is approaching!

1. Cocoa did a lot of lazing around in the sun this month! 2. Lee's sister, Danielle celebrated her 21st birthday a month earlier with her friends as people are usually on holiday by the time it's her birthday. 3. Lee's parents finished building yet another beautiful home and I got to photograph it for their company. 4. We socialized unusually much considering how busy we were this past month. 5. I got to photograph Eli & Dodge (The sweetest Great Dane on earth!). 6. Highveld Summers living up to their reputation of very hot days and very rainy afternoons. 7. This little one had his Brit Milah (Bris) at 8 days old - precious and such a special event. 8. I ate the best lasagna I have ever tasted in my life at a very posh restaurant hidden away in a conservation area. 9. We met our little god-daughter called Blossom. She is twenty times more cute in person as she looks in this photo!

There's nothing like a braai with friends! | Friends

Hello Again!

I never used to be a fan of braais (BBQs), which is strange considering it's a staple activity for South Africans...However, in the past few months since Lee's parents bought a gas braai for their home I have been such a fan...you can't beat standing around with friends socializing over a sizzling, aromatic braai!

On Saturday we went over to Roxy's home to spend some time with friends and have a good catch up. Obviously I had my camera with me...I am also to be excused for the way I look as I came straight from photographing Dodge which was a great adventure in the stream and park. What lovely people :)

Rox and her good friend Mich who is so funny!

Cherise and her husband Luke :)

MIch and her boyfriend.
The selfie queen Roxanne NOT taking photos of herself.

Roxanne's brother Wayne and his girlfriend Cherie who is just the most stylish chick ever!

Lots of fun was had!

Weekend at the Vaal | Holidays

Hello Friends!

Last weekend we spent an amazing two days at the Vaal dam with friends. We originally planned to leave at 15:30 on the Friday afternoon, but after everything we ended up leaving around 18:00 and arriving closer to 20:00. Nonetheless we were made to feel at home very quickly and so the relaxation started!
Of course I took way too many photos, but surprisingly I did something else more than take photos...BURN! The weather was so amazing that we decided to get into our bathing suits and head out on kayaks on the lake. I would like to take this opportunity to mention that there are no photos of me kayaking because balance is not my strong point and when Rox got onto the double kayak with me, she was VERY determined to NOT get tipped into the lake!
Another important thing to take note of is that the Vaal dam stinks of dead fished mixed with sewerage. At least we all smelt of it so nobody felt left out!

We had such a wonderful time and when it was time to leave late Sunday afternoon there was a lot of hesitation and pondering over plans of how to get off work the next day! We can't wait to go back there for more amazing, memory-filled* times!

*A note to Roxanne - Next time you try to drag me into the bathroom on the floor grab both legs!

Lee was missing his bike, so this one had to do!
These two are the biggest sports when it comes to photos! What awesome individuals!
This is the amazing view, a minute's walk down the slope from the cottage! Having been in Joburg for a while I could really appreciate such a beautiful landscape!
I love this photo of Lee. Rox and I were teasing him and Ray for rowing all the way to the opposite end of the cove because we got halfway and realized that the windy conditions would make it very difficult to get back! The boys were adamant that they were going to catch a wave back to shore...then the wave caught them!

Freddie the frog! We found little Freddie after we'd been out on the lake. I was not going to run back up to get my macro lens so I decided to go down on my knees and lean towards him as close as I was comfortable with, but every time I stabilized myself on my knees he would jump closer! What a poser!

Taking a moment to appreciate the fauna and flora. I'm a sucker for roses!

What a beautiful sunrise. Breathtaking!
There's nothing like an ice cold cream soda next to the water!

Hello Friends!

As per usual (new) tradition here is our monthly collage to glance back on all the wonderful times we've had over the past month :)

1. We got to watch Rox sing at a local restaurant. Such a talented lady! 2. Cocoa went for his yearly all-off shave. He looks so darling I could just eat him all up! 3. I started a new job and got to be part of an awesome entrepreneurs' day. 4. I turned 23 - probably the most uneventful age in anyone's life! ;) 5. Lee, Paul and I attended the Johannesburg International Motor Show in order to gawk at all the lovely cars on show! 6. I got to spend many of amazing days of shopping, chatting and laughing with this special girl. 7. We went to the Vaal Dam with friends. We went kayaking a few times and on this particular day there was a serious rip tide due to the windy and dry conditions - Lee got caught in it and we all had a good laugh when he finally managed to row paddle back to shore! 8. We dressed up for Halloween! 9. The Vaal dam was the perfect mini getaway we only wish we could have stayed longer!

Halloween 2013 | Holidays

Hello Again!

I have been terrible about blogging events in our life as they happen over the past little while, but this means I'm busy which in itself is a very good thing!

We've never really 'celebrated'?! Halloween, so this year it was really fun to get dressed up for a night out.

My dear friend Roxanne (hereafter known as Rox, Roxy, Froglady or any other strange names!) invited us to a Halloween party at a local club called Movida. A few days ahead of the event Rox and I were shopping at Sandton city (see photie below!)

...and being our usual crazy selves we decided to shop for identical outifts and settled on being catwomEN.

Later we ventured to China Mall to find tails and ears and a few other bits and bobs for other friends who were also dressing up. Lee wasn't keen on dressing up too much so we got him a cowboy hat and a mustache. The mustache is still in it's packaging! Another friend of ours and her husband (Cherise and Luke) went as a witch and a pirate. All round a LOT of fun was had!

Here are some photos after we'd all dressed up and finished with our make up and costumes. Please note the false lashes which I will admit didn't last 30 minutes on me before I was scratching my eyes out (first world problems).

Hi Friends

This year I was so blessed to be surrounded by people who matter to me around the time of my birthday. I was spoiled rotten with love, laughs and lovely gifts.

Here are some photos taken by myself or my friend Timor who helped me out by handling the camera whilst I was socializing :)

My favourite pasta ever! Spinach and ricotta Ravioli from Princi Pastizza.

Monthly Collage - September/Mid October | Our Life

Hello Friends!

Spring has sprung and turned into full-on 34 degree Celsius heat. I don't know why, but somehow it feels as if the month of September has just flown past and left me in it's dust.

I was browsing one of my favourite blogs, 'All Things Simple' - by Kim McCrary again this morning and I felt so inspired to copy one of her little concepts which she calls IRL (In Real Life) where she makes a little photo collage and gives a brief explanation of each image. I think this is such a darling way of giving a quick update of what is going on in our lives. Obviously the majority of the images will be coming from my personal Instagram feed which you can follow here or as wends_t if you search users.

Anyhow, here goes! What a darling idea!

1. What a joy it was to see all the blossoms pop up just before Spring Day on the 1st September this year! 2. See Tal's prom post for the make-up I did for her prom. In addition to her make up I find myself sporting swatches of various products more often than not these days. 3. Although our apartment may be in one of the noisiest buildings in the world, we are so blessed with beautiful sunsets almost every day. 4. I know I say it often, but how much do these two look alike? Love them both so much! 5. I decided to try out some new lipsticks that have been lying in my 'to try' box in my make-up up drawer for about a month and I just loved the bright corally-pink hue that just shouts Summer! 6. Timor, my dear friend has been going for juices weekly with me (and motivating me!). I know I'm a far way off to eat more organically in my own way, but I just simply love the little health shop in the building that makes lovely, fresh and organic juices. 7. I caved and indulged in a huge bowl of mushroom Alfredo. It was so worth it! 8. This little girl had a birthday on the 9th October  and she is just such a sweet girl! We love Adi (Lee's little sister) so much! 9. A friend of ours got stuck on his way to a race because his car had broken down. We went to help them out and ended up getting to tow them in a Chev Blazer which made Lee and I unbelievably excited - American Car Love runs in our blood!

Week 13 | MWIP

HI Friends!

So..I'm late on week 13 and will be on time with week 14. Here goes anyway...

Adi lost ANOTHER tooth which means she scored big with the tooth fairy! She's growing up SO fast!

I made my legendary stir fry with my own recipe for sweet and sour sauce. I will be posting the recipe here. It's a winner EVERY time!

Lee's parents moved into a beautiful new home this past weekend. We helped them and this was taking at the end of it all when a house started becoming a home. Family time is so important and amazing!

I found this little butterfly outside in the garden and had to chase it for a while before getting the shot! The last remnants of Summer as it's almost Winter here in South Africa!

We had our first Shabbat in the new house and I got to set the table. Of course there were flowers...

Our friend; Steven got this huge Sub Woofer in the boot of his car. My ears were blown away. Don't know how he does it!
Cocoa spent the weekend following me EVERYWHERE because he doesn't know the new house yet! He even slips in behind me when I go to the bathroom. What a sweet little thing! x
